Psychological Screening for Cosmetic Surgery
 

At Jackson Hill Psychology, Jackson offers psychological assessment for patients considering cosmetic surgery. Jackson offers Pre-Cosmetic Surgery Psychological Assessment for Breast Augmentation, Breast Reduction, Body Contour Surgery, Facial and Rhinoplasty Surgery, Labiaplasty, Tummy Tuck and Limb Surgery.

 

Our approach is a non-invasive surgery psychological assessment, specifically designed for those considering cosmetic procedures. The psychologist consultation for surgery appointment is one 60 minute appointment that is held by telehealth by which covers psychological screening for surgery.

My approach is to ensure you feel heard, understood and empowered in making this transformational change. I understand that seeking a psychological assessment may not have been expected as part of your cosmetic journey and I therefore aim to attend our sessions with openness, curiosity and compassion.

Appointment

Your time commitment to this assessment is expected to be up to 60 minutes with an average turn around time of two days to have the report to your surgery team. My service includes our initial session, liaising with your treatment team, the report and a follow up session after your surgery for $375.

I aim to ensure your privacy and confidentiality as should be expected when meeting with a psychologist whilst ensuring the report provided to your cosmetic team is clear and comprehensive with relevant information.

 

If concerns are highlighted during our initial session, I will be honest and we can explore it further, ensuring you are making the right decision for you.

The service package includes, the assessment session, liaising with your treatment team, completed report and a brief check-in following your procedure.

I have been a practicing psychologist for seven years and have been completing cosmetic assessments for two years. I have completed board approved training in the Psychological Evaluation of Patients Undertaking Cosmetic Procedures and am the leading referral psychologist for several cosmetic surgery practices across Australia.

When were these guidelines introduced? 
In 2023, the Medical Board of Australia issued the updated ‘Guidelines for registered medical practitioners who perform cosmetic medical and surgical procedures which come into effect from 1 July 2023. The Medical Board of Australia guidelines make clear that some patients may be unsuitable for cosmetic surgery and mandate the referral of patients of concern for a psychological evaluation to establish their suitability for the intended procedure. Jackson has completed APS approved training for Psychological Evaluation of Patients undertaking Cosmetic Procedures.

Fee
The investment for this assessment is $375. This includes, our 60 minute session, the assessment report,  contact with your doctor and brief follow up following surgery. In the event of “pending” or “declined”, additional service fees are not included within the initial fee.

 

Reports are provided within 5 days following receiving payment from initial treatment. 
Same Day urgent reports incur an additional $115.
